Using a Phone Number Previously Registered with WhatsApp Business

If your phone number has been previously registered with a WhatsApp application (Personal, Business, or Business API), there are specific steps to follow to migrate it to the WhatsApp Business API via WePOS. Here’s what you need to know:

Key Considerations

  1. Number Restrictions
    • To apply for WhatsApp API verification, your phone number must not have an active account on any WhatsApp app.
    • Once a phone number is registered with the WhatsApp Business API, it cannot be used for the WhatsApp Personal or Business apps.
  2. Upgrade-Only Policy

A phone number can be upgraded to the Business API, but it cannot be downgraded afterward.

Steps to Delete an Existing WhatsApp Account

If your phone number is currently registered with any WhatsApp app, follow these steps to delete the account:

  1. Open the WhatsApp App
    • Launch WhatsApp on your device.
  2. Access Account Settings
    • Tap More Options (three dots in the top-right corner) > Settings > Account > Delete My Account.
  3. Enter Your Phone Number
  4. Provide a Reason
    • Choose a reason for deleting your account from the dropdown menu.
  5. Confirm Deletion
    • Tap DELETE MY ACCOUNT again to finalize.

What Happens When You Delete Your Account?

  • Your WhatsApp account will be permanently deleted.
  • All message history will be erased.
  • You will be removed from all WhatsApp groups.
  • Any backups associated with your account will be deleted.
  • The QR code linked to your old WhatsApp account will be disabled.

Next Steps After Deleting Your Account

Once the account deletion is complete, your phone number can be registered with the WhatsApp Business API via WePOS. Ensure you have access to the number for verification purposes.
