Using a Previously Registered Phone Number

WePOS Support Document: Using a Previously Registered Phone Number with WhatsApp API

Overview To integrate WhatsApp API with WePOS, you might consider using a phone number that’s already been registered with a WhatsApp service (Android, iPhone, or WhatsApp Business app). Below, you’ll find detailed instructions on how to repurpose your existing WhatsApp number for WhatsApp API, which is crucial for maximizing the seamless messaging capabilities of WePOS.

Why WhatsApp is Crucial for Businesses in 2024

In the landscape of digital communication, private messaging, groups, and Stories are the fastest growing areas. WhatsApp, with its massive reach, becomes a pivotal platform for customer engagement. It is imperative for businesses to utilize authorized tools like WePOS to maintain compliance and avoid penalties such as account suspension.

Important Considerations
  • Once a phone number is registered with the WhatsApp Business API, it cannot revert to being used with the WhatsApp Business or the standard WhatsApp consumer app.
  • Upgrading a phone number to WhatsApp Business API is possible, but downgrading is not supported.
